How a parlay is calculated
A parlay combines several selections into one bet. Its odds are the product of the decimal odds of every selection, so the payout grows quickly. It only pays if every selection wins; if one loses, the whole parlay loses. Most books remove a void selection and recalculate with the rest.
Combined decimal odds = odds 1 × odds 2 × … × odds n
Payout = stake × combined odds
Implied probability = 100 / combined odds
| Selection | American | Decimal |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | −110 | 1.909 |
| 2 | −125 | 1.800 |
| 3 | +110 | 2.100 |
| Parlay | +622 | 7.216 → payout 721.64 |
More selections, much lower probability
Each selection you add multiplies the payout, but also multiplies the chances against you. In the example, the implied probability of the parlay is about 13.9%, well below any of its selections on its own. The book's margin also multiplies with every leg. This calculator only does the arithmetic; it does not recommend selections.
